    Leeds Retail Therapy Awards

This past Sunday we attended the Retail Therapy Awards at the Royal Armouries in Leeds. The show is now in it's sixth year and this year attracted almost 32,000 votes from the public on who are their favorite retailers in Leeds. The night has an intimate atmosphere as most of the retailers seemed to know each other. It was nice to see that when an award was given to a shop, the other stores will cheer for them.

This bond is really visible between the independent retailers. Check out the video above of Rose & Co giving their speech about the independent scene in Leeds (Rose & Co won best womenswear)

So sorry for the effing and jeffing! I'm just so proud of all the Independents - Hairdressers, Clothes shops, Comic Shops, Cafes etc. who work so hard and really make Leeds stand out as something different from every other city that has just row after row of High Street brands!!!

Well your speech really made an impact on the crowd and we hope the independents keep growing strong and continue to win awards for our city!

Definitely had an impact the night, and we'll be happy to see Leeds has a strong independent scene!

There maybe a strong bond between the independents, but what does it say about the people of Leeds when Boots wins an award over people like Millies Fresh & Organic and Rose & Co? For me, that is a complete joke.

I think it shows that there is love of both in Leeds. People do love the indie scene but also are into the big high street brands too, I think that is what makes Leeds great: that we have both. Although I agree Millies Fresh and Organic is one of our stars :)
